What We Do
Riverbend Medieval Society runs regular activities that combine historical research, practical skill-building, and public engagement. Members participate at their own pace, from beginner-friendly workshops through to combat displays and event encampments.
Core Activities
Combat Training
Structured drilling and sparring for safe, controlled medieval combat presentation using period-inspired weapons and tactics.
Archery
Target practice, range safety, and historical archery skill development with a focus on technique and consistency.
Medieval Crafts
Hands-on craft sessions including clothing, leatherwork, woodwork, camp equipment, and other practical period skills.
Persona Development
Research and storytelling workshops to help members build authentic characters with coherent historical backgrounds.
Workshops and Event Preparation
Weekend workshops and planning sessions to prepare displays, camps, and demonstrations for public events.
Medieval Cooking
Camp kitchen demonstrations, baking, roasting, and period-inspired feast preparation.
Public Demonstrations
Community-facing displays at festivals and fairs where we share medieval combat, crafts, and daily life with visitors.
