FraserPop 2025

Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 July 2025 • Maryborough State High School, Kent Street, Maryborough QLD
All three eras — Early, High, and Late Medieval — fielded encampments and displays. Big crowds, great combat, and outstanding teamwork. Photos below.

Oyez! Oyez!

Riverbend Medieval has had another very successful venture out to Fraser Pop 2025 (Dates: Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 July 2025; Location: Maryborough State High School, Kent Street, Maryborough QLD) where for the first time all 3 of our eras Early Medieval, high Medieval and Late Medieval all put up encampments and displays. We were well received by all who came top see us. In fact we were probably one if not the major attraction. The public were educated and informed, entertained and regaled with tales of days of yore! Two days of great fun and experience fro all. All our members there have made great strides in personal garb, equipment and personas as well as group equipment. You should all be proud. Photos will follow as they become available. Thanks again for all your work and committment.

Huzzah! Huzzah!

To all the members who could attend Fraser pop 2025. You did yourselves and the club proud on the weekend. The three time period plan has now born fruit, and it was great to see both the early and high Middle Ages step up and perform so well. From the event organising team, once again let us thank those leaders who stepped up and lead from the front Yeoman Roger Greenwood (Late Medieval), Dagmar (Early Medieval) and Lady Sue (High Medieval). As I said yesterday your efforts where outstanding. To the combatants a special thank you. 6 armoured combatants on both days was outstanding and the level of combat you all produced enthused a crowd that was at standing room only on both days. Also, a shout out to Man-at-arms Robert Fastolf and Shield Maiden Jóhanna “Jóka” Olafsdottir for making the effort to travel from Gympie on both days to participate in the combat sessions. And so another Fraser pop ends and after a meeting with the organizer you can all take a pat on the back as being the main draw card once again at Fraser Pop.

Preliminary report from our first venture to Abbeystowe — laughter, learning, and a grand parade. Photos coming soon.

Oyez! Oyez! Oyez!

We are returned from our campaign to Abbey Medieval Festival where our intrepid group did a magnificent job and all contributed to the success of our first venture to Abbeystowe!

There was much laughter and jocularity as well as the more serious work of talking to and engaging with the public. All our members did a great job of keeping the public entertained and educated. A number of our members stepped well outside their comfort zones and are to be congratulated.

This trip has helped to strengthen the bonds between the members of this group. Many tales will be told over the coming months and memories refreshed!

This is our group about to step out on Saturday for the Grande Parade:

  • Marc Pigden
  • Jackson of Stanton
  • Sir Godwin and Lady Edith Black
